What is the Present Simple?

The present simple is used for:
- Habits and routines: I wake up at 7am every day.
- Facts and general truths: The Earth orbits the Sun.
- Schedules: The train leaves at 6pm.

How to form it

Positive: Subject + base verb (+ s/es for he/she/it)
- I work every day.
- She works at a hospital.

Negative: Subject + do/does + not + base verb
- I don't like coffee.
- He doesn't play tennis.

Question: Do/Does + subject + base verb?
- Do you speak English?
- Does she live here?

Key time expressions

Use these words with present simple:
- always, usually, often, sometimes, rarely, never
- every day / week / year
- on Mondays, in the morning
